Announcement of closure of the Paknam Web Forums

It is with a saddened heart that I announce the closure of the Paknam Web Forums. The last day will be on the 14th November 2017. The forum is not as active as it used to be in its heyday. This is mainly to do with Facebook which people seem to prefer these days. As a consequence, ad revenue has dropped considerably over the years and the forum no longer pays for itself. In fact, the last year it has been bleeding money. I am in the process of downgrading our server to something cheaper. But unfortunately, no shared servers accept large forums. Even ones that are not very active. They can only run on dedicated servers which are expensive.

(I am backing everything up on the last day just in case Facebook goes out of fashion and forums become popular again.)

I wish to thank everyone who participated in the forums over the years. I think more than ten years? I particularly want to thank Khun Don and the rest of the moderators who have been keeping things running all these years. It has been a good run.

I hope to see some of you over on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/richardbarrowthailand/

    Richard

Thank you Curt. I value your first attempt at teasing. However, I am sure the future of world politics will keep you occupied. Or, you can look to the east, and squint really hard in a Thai fashion, and you may be able to see it. Cheers. 555.

You posts have been interesting. It's funny how such a thread became the monster it had become. Nothing even came close to its popularity.

So you were serious? As you would be aware Curt, I am as green as grass so to speak. So many others know so much more than me about all things thai, and I don't want to appear the idiot, whether I am or not. But the day to day happenings around this area, I find fascinating. Not so often reported in one place. As with my videos, some will find them lame, some will like them. I like every bloody thing, because I love beer, and Iove life. Even though a conflict of interest.

Unfotunate for those who are not logged in so often. It will be a shock to them.

I hope to find time to forward Richard's announcement by email to members (randomly). Would you like to suggest some names?

I have been visiting Bangkok for over 2 decades and lived here for one. I learn something new just about every day.

Very sad to see the forum close......it has been a great source of information, entertainment and online company for me.
