Re: First day of Songkran claims 39 lives and 461 injuries in road accident

My brother-in-law was caught by a traffic cam doing 110 KPH in an 80 KPH stretch. I recall his fine as being less than 500 baht. Quite the deterrent for someone driving a new BMW ...

In the States, under many jurisdictions, 30 over would set one back close to a $1,000!

Likewise elsewhere! Drink driving would in many countries lead to a long ban-typically a year- and a big fine, even imprisonment - not just confiscation of the vehicle for a week!
