    Hi,

I heard that Thailand produces rubby, wondering where I can find real good one in a fair price in Bangkok or Pattaya?

Also, I would like to buy some swimming suit and sunglass, figure I can find these two in the weekend market, right? Correct me if I am wrong.

    Thanks,
    Anne

    Rubies ..yes
But be very careful about buying the ruby as there have been
many problems for those buying gemstones.

Try this link for a start:

Sorry I can't offer any positive advice.

Oh, rubies. Yes, make sure you're buying genuine gem stones and insist on getting a bill of sale.

I worked in the Gem/jewellery trade in Thailand 8 years ago.
I was based in Kanchanaburi province though (famous for Blue Sapphires)

In Bangkok try reputable gems traders in the Suriwong Road area (runs parallel to Silom Road) .... insist on a certificate of authenticity (from GIA (gemological Institute of America) where possible)

The GIA certificates are more likely to be available with the higher priced stones though. A good quality ruby does not come cheap though .... but be sure to haggle a bit.

Can't recall some of the names of good businesses in the area... but will post a reply if I can think of them.

Consider going to the Bangkok Gems And Jewelry Fair (this is generally held in September) check out the following site on this years fair which will give you an idea

Well, in Chiang Mai there's the Gems Gallery, world's largest jewelry store, which is located in BKK and Pattaya as well. Enough rubbies there
