    Notice!

Does anybody know of a good telephone calling card that one can use in Thailand to call to the USA or other countries?

What's the rate per minute? Where can the card be purchased?

    Thanks,

    Brad.

I believe that there's a card called "phone-net" or something like that, in which you can call for 14-16 baht per minute. The only problem is they use the internet, so the quality may not be as good.

Another card is called "thaicard" (I think), and they use standard telecommunications network (better quality) and they are probably around 22 baht per minute.

You can probably buy all these cards at 7-11. I remember when I first went to Thailand, I was using the Lenso cards. Those things are way too expensive at 40+baht per minute.

Hatari International Phone Card is good. You can use it from any phone. I just came back from Thailand and used that brand (which I did buy at 7-11 by the way).

Do you know what's the price of that card and the rate per minute?

    thumbs up

I, too, have heard that Hatari is the best card to call from Thailand to other countries. However, I have not used it yet, so I cannot vouch for its performance.

More info is at Hatari - PhoneNet.

National calls? I just took a GSM mobile phone (bought it at MBK), stuck a One-to-Call SIM chip in it, and paid 5 baht per minute.

I used the Hatari phone card and found it to be quite simple and easy. Thank you Mr. Brad for the weblink. Are you going to Thailand soon? Also, if one does not have a GSM cell phone, one can rent or buy one from your local cell company, I'm not at all familiar with the SIM card thing, but that sounds like another good option...but does one have to have a GSM-capable phone?
