I think all Mobile Phones in Thailand are without Contract.
Mobile Phones are sold in almost all Big Shopping Centers, many Second Hand Phones too, hard to miss the Shops.
I recommend you try "Mah Boon Khrong"-Sopping Center (MBK), at "National Stadium" Skytrain Station (BTS).
On one Floor they only sell Mobile Phones etc.
Also a good place to shop for other things.
Vis A Vis MBK is "Siam Square", also good shopping possibilities.

I know that you can get a very good looking phone at a cheap price, but do not let the outside look fool you. You better ask them to open it up and check everything inside, sometimes it's not as new as it looks!

Very good tip. I let the salesman show me everything before i bought them. With the cheaper second hand phoons expect only receiving the phone and a charger. I bought a more expensive one and got the box and all the stuff that came along with it. Even got a 1gb memorycard with it
