Dolphins take annual swim to Bang Pakong

Manop Sanapboon - Chachoengsao

Dolphins have made their annual appearance at the mouth of the Bang Pakong river in Chachoengsao province.

Prasong Silachai, 45, a fisherman of tambon Tha Kham, said he had spotted about 50 dolphins feeding in the river estuary. The dolphins appear regularly at the start of the cold season and stay until about January. They are always a popular tourist attraction.

Mr Prasong said he and other fishermen were delighted the creatures had come back again. They planned to earn extra money by taking visitors in their boats to view them. He could earn 1,000-2,000 baht a day. Preecha Suwan, 58, assistant village head of Moo 1 in tambon Tha Kham, said he had also seen dolphins at the river mouth.
