Buses between Pai & Chiang Rai
Looking for info on buses that service between Pai & Chiang Rai:
1. Schedule
2. Rates
3. Travel time
4. Where to take the bus
Can be public or private bus.
Thanks!

Firstly, if you are going to Chiang Rai province then make your way from Pai by bus/songthaew (little passenger/pick up type of transport) to Mae Sarong in Chiang Rai province. Just ask any of the locals/guest houses in Pai for the instruction. Altogether it's about a four hour ride.
From Mae Sarong its a 2-3 hour ride to Chiang Rai's provincial town.
Rather slow but the trips above are more off the beaten track than doing the usual back-packer route with better scenery.
Most backpackers would simply take the four hour bus trip back to Chiang Mai town then take another bus up to Chiang Rai. Pretty boring routes really compared to the ones i mentioned.
This is Thailand so the only way to find out the schedule of inter-provincial travel like above is first get to Pai then ask.
Off the beaten track songthaews run less frequently than the govt bus system and the best time to go for frequency are the mornings.www.thai-blogs.com - Stories and Photos about Life in Thailand
