The "fun dee" part is probably "sweet dreams" (dream good). The "lap" could be more like "rap" (receive, get).

See this thread http://www.thailandqa.com/forum/showthread.php?p=50978 for a discussion about the difference between ฟัน (teeth) and ฝัน (dream).

"lap dta"=close eyes, that is close the eyes or lie down/sleep
Often it is just shortened to "lap".

So lap fun dee=close your eyes/lie down and have a good(sweet) dream .

Incidentally , "leum dta"=opening up the eyes or wake-up.
My spectrum is gone , its spectrum remains !

Oh my that does conjure memories of being in rural Thailand in the company of friends who really did care for me beyond my means

Even better, the correct sentence you here very often in this situation is:

Nohn Lap Fan Dee = นอนหลับฝันดี = Rest good and Sweet Dreams
