I'd wave my right hand up and down and shout: "Nong, nong, nong!"

Actually I'd say: "Khor thort khrap. Chuay dai mai khrap."

If there is a briefer but still polite thing to say, let me know.

BTW: What's the polite way to get a waiter's attention apart from smiling at them?

For future reference, each time you want to add your own ideas, please do exactly as billk did above. Quote the "what if...?" that you want to add a comment to.

Although, if it is someone older than me, or someone that I know well (our neighborhood restaurant) I would call out พี่ค่ะ I once used น้องน้อง and was quietly corrected by my sister as being impolite.

I was definitely joking when I said I'd do that!

The Practical Thai Conversation video has a character calling out "Nong" to a waiter and I assume it is OK for khon Thai to do that. However, the only people I would ever call Nong are people I know nick-named Nong or children too old to call "Noo", whose names I don't know. For farang like me, a more respectful word is in order. I think "khor thort khrap" does the job adequately but would like to learn some other phrases.
