Event Update: Arts and Craft Festival at Ancient Siam - วันแม่ เทศกาลงานศิลป์ในครัวเรือน

This is advance notice of an Arts and Craft Festival at Ancient Siam this Wednesday (12th August) starting from 9 a.m. It will take place in the Floating Market area. I have very little information on this as I am still trying to get a press release out of them. I got this information from a poster outside the park. It is not being promoted anywhere else and certainly not in English. If I can find out more information then I will post it here.

I finally have a press release from Ancient Siam about their Mother's Day activity tomorrow:

กิจกรรม “ เทศกาลงานศิลป์ในครัวเรือน ”
เมืองโบราณ สมุทรปราการ ขอเชิญเที่ยวงาน “ เทศกาลงานศิลป์ในครัวเรือน ” ในวันที่ 12 สิงหาคม 2552 ซึ่งตรงกับวันแม่แห่งชาติ ตั้งแต่เวลา 9.00 – 17.00 น. ณ ตำหนักหยก บริเวณตลาดน้ำ เมืองโบราณ ภายในงานมีการจัดแสดงงานศิลป์ครัวเรือน ที่น่าสนใจมากมาย เช่น งานแกะสลักผลไม้ งานร้อยมาลัย งานพับดอกบัว งานใบตอง งานปอกมะม่วงริ้ว และงานสาธิตการทำขนมไทย โดยมีเจ้าของแสดงผลงานทั้งนักเรียน นักศึกษา และผู้ประกอบการ มาจัดแสดงผลงานพร้อมสาธิตวิธีการปฏิบัติงานให้ชม นอกจากนี้คู่แม่ลูก ที่มาร่วมในงานยังสามารถถ่ายภาพติดเข็มกลัด เป็นของที่ระลึกในการเที่ยวชมเมืองโบราณ อีกทั้งยังมีบริการรถรางพร้อมมัคคุเทศก์ รถจักรยาน และรถกอล์ฟไว้คอยให้บริการนักท่องเที่ยวอีกด้วย

This basically adds that there will also be demonstrations of fruit carving and traditional Thai desserts.

I visited Ancient Siam (formerly Ancient City) in Samut Prakan for their annual Mother's Day activity this morning. Over the last few years, the management have been organizing many different kinds of events at the park during all major holidays. Today is a public holiday for H.M. The Queen's birthday. Ancient City is good to visit at any time of the year but even more so if there is a holiday.



The event today took place in the Jade Pavilion in the Floating Market area. Local students were giving demonstrations of fruit carving, floral art and traditional Thai desserts.
