Nice pic-I know how difficult such are to take -I have lots of similar nice pics -only the butterfly departed out of the shot a fraction of a second before I pressed the shutter.
Have I shown you my impressive photo folder of Thailand's flowers....?

oh no, these were so happy with whatever that fruit was that I could almost touch them with the lens and they stayed put. very lucky. one even landed on my mother's hand but I didn't take a pic of that one, just enjoyed seeing it happen.

I would be interested should be easier than the butterflies.... or, wait, is it the collection of missed butterflies? (I love flowers.)

Yes-it is the collection of missed butterflies. However your pic made something finally click-fruit. The best photo I have is of butterflies on fruit-so fruit is possibly the answer to getting good butterfly pics!

Taken in one of the orchid farms in Mae Sa district-can't remember which one-tried to find it again last trip as it had a huge butterfly area and I had a better camera-but failed.

BTW-you made a post saying you were disappointed with your new "Canon"-pics look good to me-sharp, good colour balance etc.

butterfly farms seem to come and go in the area - I had the same experience when I wanted to return to one after a while and it just wasn't there anymore.

the photos are mostly quite good - but all the sea colours, especially the dazzling turquoises and azures are all wrong, and that's just been a big turnoff for me. granted, I wouldn't have been able to take half my pics with the Fuji because I used the 20x zoom all the time on the Canon. I should actually be happy. but those colours break my heart. (I am addicted to the Andaman sea.)

Maybe you need a digital photo program which will quickly and easily fix such colour aberrations. Something like and old version of "Photoshop Elements" ( I bought a legal OEM copy of version 6 for aprox B1000-current version 8 is around B3500-you can probably get it cheaper than that in Thailand )this will balance the overall colour elements of an image in one click via it's "Quick Fix" feature.
There are free programs that do the same thing, but I do not know how simple they are to use or how good they are.

Re: Photo of the day

some more hermit crabs from Ko Surin, they are fun to watch

hermitcrab3.jpg

this one stole the shell from my mother's necklace hanging from a branch in front of the tent, and ran off with it, leaving a battered shell with a hole behind! my mother decided not to evict it, cut the shell off the string and let it go. we saw it several times later struggling with the odd shaped shell, getting stuck among twigs etc.
