Re: A year in Thailand Pt.II (Krabi)

This Lagoon at Railay is reached via the same route as the view point on the path from Railay east to Phranang bay. Very dodgy to get here as you need to climb down (then later back up) 3 steep drops via a rope, so you need to be able to hold and lift your own body weight. But the lagoon is amazing, though not so nice to swim in as it has a muddy bottom.

Few pics of Railay west, and Tonsai in the background

Re: A year in Thailand Pt.2 & 6 (Krabi)

Some pics of Emerald pool which is reached by following the same road past Khlong Thom hot springs for about another 5miles or so. There is also a sign post for an animal sanctuary but after trying to find this place, i found out it has closed down.

Re: A year in Thailand Pt.2 & 6 (Krabi)

Another trip was to Thanbok Koranee National park. I went here via motorbike. Just head towards Phang-Nga / Phuket and follow the signs, you turn left just after Tesco lotus at Ao Luk. I'm guessing you could also get a Phuket bus and ask to ne dropped off here as it's only a 2minute walk to the park from the turn off. Again, 200B to get in

Re: A year in Thailand Pt.2 & 6 (Krabi)

On the way from Krabi to Tharnbok Koranee/Au Luk/Pang Nga or Phuket there are quite a few caves. I havn't seen all of them but by far the most impressive of the ones i have seen is Phet cave.

There is a monk at a shrine near the entrance and he hands you a torch to explore the cave. I would advise you make sure the batteries are good as this is a pretty big cave with multiple routes if you want to explore and if the battery dies you wont be finding your way out and will have to wait for help.

It's free to get in but there is a donation box near the monk.

Re: A year in Thailand Pt.II (Krabi)

If anyone knows how i can change the name of this thread from "A year in Thailand Pt.II (Krabi)" to "A year in Thailand Pt.2 & 6 (Krabi)" i think it would be easier for people to know the thread has been updated.... i've tried editing the original post but it won't let me... anyway, no problem if it can't be done. Speak soon.

You can't, members can only edit for a short time after posting. But I can, I will do now.
