BRT's Future in Question

Future expansion of the BRT has been put on hold and it's very survival is in question. There is talk of trashing the whole thing.

We didn't know anyone along the route that thought it was a good idea. Apparently, none of the planners knew anyone either.

Re: BRT's Future in Question

Have you seen that design for a bus in China that carries over 1,000 passengers and doesn't take up any room on the road? It is much cheaper than building the skytrain or subway and won't slow traffic as cars can pass UNDERNEATH it!

Re: BRT's Future in Question

I've always admired how creative and massive Chinese projects can be, it is the place to be for those who dream big.
this thing looks a little scary and dangerous to me, though.

That looks like a good solution! Hopefully it will convince more people to leave their car at home and go by mass transport!

Re: BRT's Future in Question

I actually had the chance to try the BRT in early Jul when it was still giving free rides. Took me just around 15 mins to go from Wat Dan station (Rama 3) to Sathorn station on a Sat. The journey was smooth except for some loud noises when the bus goes in and out the lane when the wheels tried to get in contact with the tracks. I thought it should be quite convenient for commuters but it definetly will cause heavy traffic for the car owners since they close one lane specially for the BRT. You can see motorcyclists riding in and out of the BRT lane sometimes. Also, I find it strange the map in the Wat Dan station is in Thai only. Also I noticed there are no lifts for handicaps. Looks like this project was doomed from beginning. Good for the Government. Now they can come up with new mega projects.
