Discontinuation of Groan Button

After careful deliberation, we have decided to discontinue the use of the groan button. We apologize for any inconvenience that this decision may cause.

That is a really immature way of dealing with things.

I guess it's a prime example of why the groan button has been removed.

Re: Discontinuation of Groan Button

In a perfect world the person being groaned at would reflect on their post. Not many people use the groan button to retaliate against being groaned like Paul. Usually, being groaned at indicates the post was either negative, a personal attack, or an outlandish statement was made.
In any community, peer pressure keeps the community running in harmony for the most part. Sort of like self policing.
The groan button, I believe, kept negativity in check
Without it, I ecpect the personal attacks and negativity to rise. I hope I'm wrong.

At least you are honest, I'd say majority of people here did/felt the same. We are all human regardless of how "righteous we may think we are." I think quite a few people here didn't use the groan system for what it was meant to be; instead, people were using it as a personal thing or simply because they didn't like what someone said (without providing any reasons as to why they disagreed). I myself never used the system.
