Re: Chao Praya River Movie
The movie you are looking for is Norng Mia or "Song of The Chaophraya" I just recently saw this movie myself as a classic film release on DVD. It was directed by Prince Chatrichalerm Yukol who later directed Suriyothai and the Naresuan movies.
This forum will not let me post links yet but the imdb title is Nawng Mia.
The wife didn't actually want to work in the sex industry. She gets fooled by people who tell her she will be a movie star. It is a very heartwarming film.

Thanks Grai! I think this sounds like the movie I am thinking of! Too bad when I google for the title, there does not seem to be any link to its trailer

Re: Chao Praya River Movie
The summary looks like ͧ from ChatriChalerm Yukol. A first version (Sister-In-Law) was done in 1978 and second one in 1990 (Song for Chao Phraya).

Re: Chao Praya River Movie
Finally found one trailer... At Long last...
Can't remember if it is the 1978 or the 1990 that I had watched, but the ending song (sand against the scene of the flowing Chao Praya River) of that particular one I watched was really haunting in a bittersweet way, and still lingered in my memory today although it had been like about 16 years. The song went something like:
"As long as there is life, there is hope... That ones will one day be reunited..." (from the English subtitle remembered)

Re: Chao Praya River Movie
Kudos and I am glad that you had shared with us with this wonderful piece of the English subtitle...
A bit of sidetrack about life and hope, I had also find one of the English subtitle for a anime call Kateikyoushi hitman reborn opening 1 also quite meaningful in the first few lines and it goes like this
"Even if those eyes lost their light...I'll still draw...Even if these hands lose their strength...I'll still draw...A colour that wraps everything together..A prayer that put all my wishes together"

Re: Chao Praya River Movie
Yes Peiyan I uploaded this trailer recently
I still cannot post links but you can go to ThaiWorldView.com database, then check Social movies and a summary for both 1978 and 1990 versions is available.
Both versions are good but my preference goes with the version with Sorapong Chatree.

Re: Chao Praya River Movie
 Hi Thaiworld,
Do you happen to also know the title of the song that came at the end of the movie and also the link to it (the song I described in Post 14)? Will greatly appreciate it lots

Re: Chao Praya River Movie
I just spent a good amount of time reading through most of the social and Buddhism movie summaries in ThaiWorldView.. Is the entire website your work? It's really comprehensive and awesome
