Pruning of Members' Names

We have over 19,000 registered members now. This is making it hard for new people to have good names. Starting today we will be pruning people with zero posts and who haven't logged in for more than a year. If you want to keep your username you need to make at least one post at least once a year!

Re: Pruning of Members Names

OK, we are down to 15,000 members now. The next round will be done in a few days for people who haven't logged in or posted in the last year.

Re: Pruning of Members Names

This is advance notice that we will be doing a mass pruning of inactive members this weekend. At present we have over 26,000 registered members and we want to make some of these usernames available for new members who actually want to take part in our forums.

The first group to be pruned are the 4,000 members who haven't confirmed their email address. These are the people who have their usernames in green. Many are spammers who signed up with fake email addresses. Some are members who typed their email address incorrectly. Others didn't find the confirmation email in their spam folder. And others just didn't understand about the final step. I have also noticed that some chatters have green usernames.

If you want to keep your username you must post at least one time on the forums once or twice a year so that we can see that you are active.

Just to clarify what Richard means: The names of newcomers who have not confirmed their email addresses will appear green in the list of members who are online at the moment. You will find this list in the first page of the forum. But once they enter the chat room, their names in the list of members chatting (found on the right side of the screen) become black. These names also register as black when they send messages to others in the chat room.

In the chat room, names of staff/moderators are in green whether in the list of chatters on the right panel or in the left side when they send messages to others. Non-staff's names will always appear as black, whether old or new members.

I find this necessary to explain as many chatters ask why some names are in green in the chat room.

What about Joshua and his aliases
He has not posted in almost a year, will he be struck off. He seems to be a mega poster who keeps coming back after long breaks. Maybe people with many posts should be kept permanent.

Re: Pruning of Members' Names

If we delete members who have posted we will also lose all their posts. That will then make some threads confusing if it is missing posts.

Re: Pruning of Members' Names

Don't know if he so much ran away, Betti, as literally had no time with the demands of his family business and trying to fix up an old house he bought for himself and family.

Yes, sooner or later
- later, if he is strong or well-meaning to begin with,
but neither strength nor good purpose will last
- sooner or later the Dark Power will devour him.
